Frankfort, KY (October 13, 2009) - Frankfort Regional Medical Center announced today the cancellation of its annual health fair scheduled for Saturday, October 17 due to the lack of available seasonal flu vaccine. The hospital was expecting to receive an additional 1,400 doses to provide to the community during the health fair, but due to the on-going demand and waiting list, the hospital's supplier ran out.

"Unfortunately, we are not going to receive any additional seasonal flu vaccine doses," said Emily Mills, RN, Nurse Manager for Infection Control. "Due to the demand for H1N1 flu vaccine, the supply for seasonal flu vaccine has been significantly impacted."

The hospital recommends that individuals contact their health care provider and/or local pharmacy to see if they have any seasonal flu vaccine doses available.

There are no plans to reschedule the health fair at this time.
