Frankfort Regional Medical Center received an “A” rating on patient safety from The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog) in its Fall 2014 report card - Hospital Safety Scores®. The score reflects Frankfort Regional’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors.
“Receiving an ‘A’ from Leapfrog shows that our physicians and staff are continuing to provide an extremely safe environment for patients,” said Chip Peal, Chief Executive Officer. “It places us among the best hospitals in America in this category, and it demonstrates that patient safety isn’t a slogan for us, it’s a commitment we’re delivering on.”
There were 2,520 U.S. hospitals receiving grades - 50 in Kentucky. Frankfort Regional Medical Center was one of only two hospitals in Central Kentucky to receive an “A,” and one of only 10 in the state. Leapfrog does not grade specialty or pediatric hospitals.
Leapfrog is an independent, national nonprofit organization that administers the Score, and graded hospitals on an "A, B, C, D, or F" scale based on 26 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single grade. The Hospital Safety Score is the only publicly accessible standard of hospital safety available free to the public. Calculated under the guidance of Leapfrog’s eight-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score methodology has been analyzed in the peer-reviewed Journal of Patient Safety.
