FRANKFORT, Ky. — Frankfort Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, unveiled a new transport ambulance to support timely, coordinated patient transfers from the hospital to the next level of care when needed.

The ambulance will be based at Frankfort Regional and staffed by the hospital’s transport paramedics. It will support patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, helping ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

“When every second counts, our team is ready,” said John Ballard, chief executive officer of Frankfort Regional Medical Center. “This investment is about strengthening care when patients need it most. By adding a dedicated transport ambulance, we can better support smoother transitions, improve coordination between care teams and help ensure patients reach the next level of care as quickly and safely as possible.”

The new transport ambulance also supports local emergency medical services by helping teams return to the field quickly and respond to urgent needs in the community.

“This addition is a win for Frankfort and Franklin County,” said Joe Sebastian, EMS Director of Frankfort Fire and EMS. “With the hospital’s dedicated transport capabilities, local EMS crews will have a valuable community partner to help provide interfacility transfers and allow our crews more availability to respond to 911 calls and emergencies throughout our area.”

Frankfort Regional celebrated the launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside the Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce, local government and community leaders, emergency medical services, fire and police representatives and community partners.
