Statistics show a tremendous need for wound care treatment. Each year, approximately seven million Americans will suffer from problem wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems and many other conditions, with over a million new cases each year. Compelling statistics include:

  • 21 million Americans have diabetes
  • 18.3% of people over 60 have diabetes
  • 15% of all diabetics will develop problem wounds
  • Patients with diabetes have a 15-fold increase in the risk of amputation and approximately 82,000 diabetics will undergo amputation each year

There is hope. Studies have shown that wound care treatment facilities have reduced amputation rates and the length of hospital stays.

The Wound Care Center's health care team of experts includes a board-certified general surgeon, board-certified podiatrist, board-certified family practitioner, certified wound nurses and physical therapists devoted to the treatment plan of the patient for wound care.

The Wound Care Center & Hyperbaric Medicine is located next to the hospital in the Frankfort Medical Pavilion in Suite 108. For more information, or to register for your free leg and foot screen, call Consult-A-Nurse at (877) FRMC-MD1 ((877) 376-2631)*.
