Dry needling

At Frankfort Regional, we provide integrative dry needling, a treatment that helps patients heal quicker and/or reduce pain.

Dry needling uses a very fine (usually 38 gauge), flexible, solid, sterile needle for a multitude of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions that may be painful with or without decreased mobility, such as:

  • Headaches
  • Back pain
  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Adhesive capsulitis
  • Carpal tunnel
  • IT band syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Chronic pain syndromes

Your therapist inserts a "dry" needle, one without medication or injection, through the skin into areas of the muscle.

Our team strives to make the treatment virtually painless, however, a local twitch response of the muscle may be felt. Many patients experience immediate relief of their symptoms and an increase in range of motion. Soreness or bruising is a common response to needling, but does not occur with all patients.
