FRMC awarded Advanced Primary Stroke Center re-certification from The Joint Commission

Frankfort Regional Medical Center (FRMC) has earned a two-year renewal of The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification.

Frankfort Regional Medical Center underwent a rigorous review process in November 2021. During the survey, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with stroke-related certification standards including program management, the delivery of clinical care and performance improvement. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The reviewers also conducted observations and interviews.

“Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification recognizes health care organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” said Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, accreditation and certification operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Frankfort Regional Medical Center for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for stroke patients.”

“We congratulate Frankfort Regional Medical Center for this outstanding achievement,” said Nancy Brown, chief executive officer, the American Stroke Association. “This certification reflects its commitment to providing the highest quality of care for stroke patients.”

“Achieving re-certification from The Joint Commission recognizes FRMC as a leader in stroke care,” said Reed Hammond, chief executive officer of Frankfort Regional Medical Center. “This achievement validates that we are equipped to provide more extensive evaluation and care for stroke patients than other hospitals, and is a direct result of the efforts and commitment by our entire healthcare team.”
