Frankfort Regional Medical Center received an Outstanding Achievement Award for supporting organ and tissue donation in 2018 at the Gift of Life Summit held on April 25 in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Gift of Life Summit celebrated saving lives through organ donation and healing lives through tissue and cornea donation. The event was hosted by Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) and the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks' Trust For Life (TFL). Each time a hospital calls KODA to refer a potential donor, the opportunity for the gift of life is possible for families.

"It's an honor to work with and support the mission of organ and tissue donation, and the generous donor families who give the gift of life to those in need," said Reed Hammond, CEO of Frankfort Regional Medical Center. "We are grateful for these courageous families as they make life possible."

"The gift of donation and transplantation is not possible without the dedication of hospital partners like Frankfort Regional Medical," said Julie Bergin, President & CEO of Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates. "We are so grateful for their compassion and the lifesaving work they do each and every day."

At the Gift of Life Summit, hospital partners, coroners, Circuit Clerks and volunteers were awarded from throughout the KODA and TFL service area. Everyone is welcome to register as a donor to give hope to 1000 Kentuckians waiting and many more in need of tissue and cornea transplants. Simply say "yes" when you visit your Circuit Clerk's office or go to their website .
