Frankfort Regional earns national recognition for excellence in stroke care
Frankfort Regional Medical Center has been nationally recognized by the American Heart Association for its outstanding commitment to high-quality stroke care, earning both the Get with the Guidelines© – Stroke Gold Plus award for delivering evidence-based treatment and the Rural Recognition Gold designation for advancing stroke care in underserved communities.
In addition, Frankfort Regional received the Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Advanced Therapy award for meeting specific criteria that reduce the time between patient arrival and treatment to remove the clot causing the stroke. The hospital also received the Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award, recognizing its focus on providing optimal stroke care for patients with Type 2 diabetes.
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the U.S. A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked by a clot or bursts, leading to brain cell death. Early stroke detection and treatment are key to improving survival, minimizing disability and accelerating recovery times.
“Frankfort Regional is committed to improving patient care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines,” said John Ballard, PhD, FACHE, chief executive officer at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. “Get with the Guidelines© makes it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work daily, which studies show can help patients recover better. The end goal is to ensure more people in Frankfort and surrounding areas can experience longer, healthier lives."
The Get with the Guidelines© program helps hospitals nationwide align care with the latest clinical research, improving long-term outcomes and empowering patients to manage their recovery.
