The Central Kentucky Sleep Facility at Frankfort Regional Medical Center is nationally accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, offering the latest diagnostic tools available in sleep medicine.

Our mission is to help patients get the best night's sleep possible. Through a simple sleep study, our medical staff can track your pattern of sleep, diagnose sleep disorders and determine if you would benefit from any of our sleep-assisting treatments.

The sleep facility is equipped with the most modern computer monitoring equipment and staffed by registered polysomnographic technologists and respiratory therapists. Every study is reviewed by a board-certified sleep physician with expertise in sleep disorders.

Each sleep study room offers an attractive, inviting setting and the comforts of home, including a full-size bed and a private bathroom.

Sleep disorders we treat

Located on the first floor of the Frankfort Medical Pavilion (next to the hospital), our sleep center team provides treatment for a broad spectrum of sleep disorders for people 12 years old and older, including:

  • Hypersomnia: An increase of at least 25 percent in total sleeping time that continues for more than a few days
  • Insomnia: An inability to sleep and/or the inability to remain asleep for a reasonable period
  • Narcolepsy: A sleep disorder that causes overwhelming and severe daytime sleepiness that often occurs at inappropriate times and places
  • Nocturnal parasomnia: A broad term used to describe various uncommon and disruptive sleep-related disorders, including sleepwalking, sleep talking, sleep terrors, nightmares and teeth grinding
  • Periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD): Involves repetitive cramping or jerking of the legs during sleep
  • Restless leg syndrome (RLS): A disorder of the part of the nervous system that affects movements of the legs
  • Shift workers: The malfunctioning of a person's circadian system, or biological clock, causing circadian rhythm disorders
  • Sleep apnea: A condition in which a person repeatedly stops breathing (apnea), or experiences shallow breathing (hypopnea) for short periods of time during sleep

Sleep study candidates

The sleep facility performs sleep studies for adults, adolescents and children. If you or someone you know have the following, you may be qualified to receive our sleep study services:
