Frankfort, KY (September 25, 2008) ' Frankfort Regional Medical Center has been named the winner of the Republic Bank & Trust Company's third annual We CARE Award for Central Kentucky healthcare companies. Frankfort Regional was selected from among all for-profit and non-profit companies, associations, and government agencies in Frankfort, Georgetown and Lexington. The hospital was a finalist for the award in 2006 and 2007.

'Being selected as a recipient for this award is a great honor for our hospital,' said Chip Peal, Chief Executive Officer of Frankfort Regional. 'It's a credit to all of the employees in our facility who contribute countless hours of service to the communities we are privileged to serve.'

Republic Bank's We CARE Award was created as a way to recognize and show appreciation to local companies whose employees are doing great things in their communities. The award highlights four elements contained in the We CARE name itself - Community, Activity, Recognition and Enterprise.

Employees at the Frankfort Regional participate in numerous health fairs and screenings, sending nurses and staff to provide assistance. The hospital also sponsors many community, civic and cultural events benefiting organizations such as the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, March of Dimes, Relay for Life, and the United Way, to name several. Frankfort Regional partners with the First Baptist Church of Frankfort and the Franklin County Health Department to provide a free health clinic called Mission Frankfort Clinic, which meets the medical and dental care needs of individuals and families who are uninsured. The hospital also has a partnership with each of the Frankfort area high schools athletic departments, providing an athletic trainer for each school.

We CARE winners are based on how they encourage their employees to become involved in volunteer activities either during or after work hours. They are also evaluated on how they support community-based initiatives through philanthropic efforts and neighborhood assistance.

In addition to Frankfort Regional in the healthcare categories, winners were also named in Construction, Architecture & Engineering; Corporate Caring; Public Works, Services & Education; Local Retailer; Manufacturing & Publishing; and Professional Services.

The winners were announced on September 23, 2008 at a dinner and awards presentation at Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington.
