Frankfort, KY (April 22, 2009) - Frankfort Regional Medical Center has earned the top spot among all large companies in this year's Best Places to Work in Kentucky awards competition. FRMC has now been recognized as one of the best places to work and as the top hospital among large-sized companies for three consecutive years. The competition is a joint effort of the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM) state council and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made at the Fifth Annual Best Places to Work in Kentucky awards dinner.

"Being selected as the top hospital to work for is a very prestigious award for our staff," said Chip Peal, Chief Executive Officer. "Being selected as the top company among all large employers is an even greater honor. There are many great companies to work for in Kentucky, and for our hospital to be recognized validates we are doing the right things, both for our employees and for the patients we have the privilege of caring for each day."

Frankfort Regional Medical Center's employees are given flexible schedules and the encouragement and tools needed to advance their careers, including a tuition reimbursement program for continuing education expenses. Many employees enjoy the convenience of self-scheduling, and there is no mandatory overtime policy that allows staff the freedom to pick up extra hours - but only if they want to.

Fifty five companies were recognized at the ceremony at the Lexington Convention Center on April 21; 31 in the small/medium-sized category (25 - 249 employees) and 24 in the large-sized category (250 or more employees).

The Best Places to Work program is open to all publicly and privately held organizations, either for-profit or not-for-profit. To be eligible, companies must have at least 25 employees in Kentucky. According to the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky has more than 90,000 publicly and privately-owned establishments eligible (with 20 or more employees). The goal of Best Places to Work in Kentucky is to raise the bar among the state's employers and create excellence and employee satisfaction in the workplace that will attract talented people for years to come. "This award is a tribute to all of our staff. It reflects the possibilities when people strive towards a common goal," said Bev Young, Director of Human Resources. "We have a great team of healthcare professionals and it is a privilege to serve our communities." The selection process, managed by Best Companies Group, is driven by an assessment of the company's employee policies, procedures, benefits and the results of an internal employee survey. The survey feedback that all participating companies receive will enable them to develop plans and implement steps necessary to create a great workplace and continue to improve the performance of their businesses.
